… The tragedy Hamlet is the tragedy of desire. But … it is time to notice what one always takes note of last, i.e., what is most obvious. I know of no commentator who has ever taken the trouble to make this remark, however hard it is to overlook once it has been formulated: from one end of Hamlet to the other, all anyone talks about is mourning.
