H&M’s business objectives are neatly summed up in what it terms its ‘business concept’ as ‘fashion and quality at the best price in a sustainable way’. Achieving this requires that H&M’s operations must achieve high levels of performance on each of these dimensions: fashion, price, quality and sustainability. To meet its objective of always offering fashionable clothing and accessories, H&M relies on a team of in-house designers. They face the challenge of constantly providing collections ‘full of inspiring fashion’. They say they draw their inspiration from ‘every corner of the globe and a wide variety of sources, from art, cinema, magazines and music to street fashion, trade shows and trend seminars’.
