Resilience and social support
This chapter looks at the reasons why some abused children can demonstrate resilience in the face of their experiences and how resilience can be promoted. It looks at: resilience factors which can include biological factors, locus of control and social supportavailable supports including extended family members, non-family adults, friends, schools, religion and pets — these can be identified, harnessed and strengthened to help abused children.
